The long-abandoned Enyimba International Hotel in Aba is finally coming back to life after over 4 decades, and prominent businessman and philanthropist, Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor—popularly known as “De Ultimate Commander” (Ikenna Gburugburu)—has thrown his full weight behind Governor Alex Otti’s economic transformation agenda in Abia State.
In what many observers describe as a landmark development, the revival of the Enyimba International Hotel marks a significant turning point in the state’s journey toward economic recovery and modernization. Originally conceived around 1979 as a five-star hospitality and conference hub, the project had remained a symbol of neglect and unfulfilled promises for decades.

Today, under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti, that narrative is changing.
Through strategic planning and partnerships with international investors, the Abia State Government has begun the process of rebuilding and repositioning the hotel into a world-class facility. The project is expected to generate employment, boost tourism, and reinforce Aba’s status as a leading commercial city in Nigeria.
Ambassador Offor, in a strong show of solidarity, described the development as “a clear sign that Abia has entered a new era of purposeful leadership and economic revival.”
According to him, “What we are witnessing today is not just the reconstruction of a hotel, but the rebuilding of confidence in governance. For over two decades, Abia was held down by stagnation and lack of progress. Today, that story is changing for the better.”
He further emphasized that only those who do not have the interest of the people at heart would oppose the current wave of transformation sweeping across the state.
“Those fighting Governor Alex Otti’s efforts are not aligned with the progress of Abia people. Their intention is to return the state to the dark days of economic stagnation and unproductiveness. But Ndi Abia have seen the difference, and they will not go back,” Offor stated.
The Enyimba International Hotel project is widely seen as a symbol of what focused leadership can achieve. Once abandoned and overtaken by decay, the structure is now set to become a modern hospitality and conference destination capable of attracting both local and international visitors.
Analysts believe that beyond its direct economic benefits, the project sends a strong signal to investors that Abia State is open for business and ready for growth.
Ambassador Offor called on citizens and stakeholders to rally behind the current administration, stressing that sustainable development requires collective support.
“This is the time to stand together and support leadership that is delivering results. Abia is rising again, and we must all be part of this transformation,” he said.
As reconstruction efforts gain momentum, many residents see the rebirth of the Enyimba International Hotel as more than just infrastructure—it is a renewed promise of progress, prosperity, and a brighter future for Abia State.
