NDIGBO For Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT) Press Release – April 6th, 2026
The NDIGBO For Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT), a coalition comprising prominent sociopolitical organizations, unequivocally extends its sincere and unreserved apologies to Mr. Seun Okinbaloye, the esteemed anchor of Channels TV. This apology stems from the regrettable remarks attributed to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, during a recent media parley in Abuja. Comments allegedly made by Wike—stating, “if there’s any way to break the screen, I would have shot the Channels TV anchor Seun”—have been subjected to misinterpretation and misrepresentation.
NDI-ABAT believes it is both prudent and patriotic to intervene on behalf of Minister Wike and offer our apologies to Mr. Okinbaloye. We assert that Wike’s comments were intended as light-hearted jest and should rightfully be viewed as such, notwithstanding the unfortunate context in which they were interpreted by members of the opposition coalition in the ADC. We are encouraged to learn that Mr. Okinbaloye himself has communicated that Minister Wike reached out to him directly through telephone conversations subsequent to the media parley, thereby clarifying his remarks and expressing goodwill, which has facilitated reconciliation between them.
For the sake of clarity, NDI-ABAT wishes to emphasize that we are not acting as representatives of the Federal Capital Territory Minister. Rather, our actions are motivated by Minister Wike’s unwavering support and loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Our organization, acting out of magnanimity and a sense of civic responsibility, has determined that an official clarification is warranted. Wike, drawing from his background as a proud son of Rivers State and the Niger Delta, often employs humor as a means of expression—a trait that can sometimes be misconstrued.
It is our fervent hope that this expression of goodwill will help quell the discord circulating on social media and foster a more harmonious environment. We recognize that Minister Wike is a formidable leader who is passionately invested in the electoral success of President Tinubu, a commitment that has garnered both admiration and criticism from public discourse. NDI-ABAT calls upon the opposition leaders within the ADC to refrain from inflating a matter that has already been amicably resolved between the Minister and Mr. Seun Okinbaloye. Instead, we urge them to focus their energies on addressing internal challenges rather than igniting further discord.
In conclusion, let it be understood that NDI-ABAT stands for unity and progress within our political landscape. We seek to promote civil discourse and collaborative effort in the pursuit of a prosperous Nigeria, respecting the diverse voices that contribute to our national fabric.
